Seamus Heaney once said that
‘The end of Art is Peace’.
Uncommon Wealth will premier
on International Peace Day at Cavan County Museum, Ballyjamesduff.
This is a cross border celebration of the power of creativity to redeem, to
mend, to save us from our more divisive instincts. The newly formed Cavan County Choir
will perform Art Hymns composed by artist John Byrne with soloist Ruth Kelly
and conducted by renowned Director of Choral Music Blanaid Murphy with
accompanist Sue King.
Speakers accompanying the
performance are retired president of The Irish Countrywoman’s Association Mamo
McDonald of County Monaghan, Belfast born author Brian Keenan, Cavan
based Canadian born poet Heather Brett, writer and comic Kevin
McAleer, and Clones born author and journalist Darach McDonald.
Uncommon
Wealth will also be performed at Fermanagh County Museum Enniskillen as part of
the Fermanagh Live Festival on 28 September at 8pm.
